Jin Montclare has been Selected as a 2019-2020 AAAS Leshner Fellow

Congratulations to Jin Montclare on being selected as 2019-2020 AAAS Leshner Fellow awarded by the Leshner Leadership Institute! The Leshner Leadership Institute is an initiative of the AAAS Center for Public Engagement with Science and Technology. Each year, a cohort of Public Engagement Fellows from an area of research at the nexus of science and society convene for a week of intensive public engagement and science communication training and public engagement plan development.

Andrew Olsen Presents Work at ICBE Asia

Andrew Olsen presented his research on a protein triblock copolymer with two self-assembly domains at the International Conference on Biomolecular Engineering at the Grand Hyatt in Singapore. He received the 1st Place poster award.

Andrew Olsen & Priya Katyal Awarded Innovation of the Year

Andrew Olsen (PhD Candidate) and Priya Katyal (Post-Doctoral Associate) were awarded Innovation of the Year by the Engelberg Center on Innovation Law & Policy at their annual IP Institute heal at the prestigious law firm, Cravath, Swaine, Moore LLP. They presented a demonstration of the engineered phosphotriesterase enzyme the night before at the cocktail hour for the conference. The attendees from law firms, industry, and academia voted for the innovation during the event.

Prof. Montclare & Her Team Awarded NIH CounterACT Grant

Prof. Montclare obtained funding through the National Institute of Health (NIH) Countermeasures Against Chemical Threats (CounterACT) for the detoxification of neurotoxic chemical warfare agents such as VX. Prof. Montclare will be working aside Prof. Richard Bonnie, Director of the NYU Center for Data Science, and Dr. Tamara Otto at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense (USAMRICD), to design a phosphotriesterase (PTE) enzyme capable efficiently neutralizing VX.
