Jin Kim Montclare, PhD, is an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. She runs a research group that specializes in synthetic biology with a focus on protein design. As part of inSchool Apps, Jin co-designs and promotes apps, as well as architects their deployment in K-12 and higher education environments.
Liming Yin
Liming YinPhD Candidate
Liming Yin holds a B.S. in Molecular Science and Engineering from National Taipei University of Technology in Taiwan with a concentration in conductive polymers. She received an M.S. in Chemistry from NYU-Poly, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry. Her research includes coiled-coil proteins delivering drugs for osteoarthritis treatment, protein-templated inorganic nanomaterials, and fluorinated enzyme mutants for p53 activation.
Joseph Frezzo

Joe received a B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Cell & Molecular Biology from Fordham University in the Bronx. He recently received a M.S. in Biomedical Engineering (Materials Track) from NYU Poly. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Biomedical Engineering and his research is focused on drug delivery via fluorinated proteins.
Andrew Olsen
Andrew OlsenPhD Candidate
Andrew Olsen holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from University of Maryland (2012), and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry. His current research pertains to the engineering of the enzyme, phosphotriesterase (PTE). He also works on developing patterned stimuli-responsive photo-crosslinkable protein engineered hydrogels. As part of his research, he has worked at New York University Abu Dhabi to develop enzyme encapsulation methods.
Lindsay Hill
Lindsay HillPhD Candidate
Lindsay received her Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from New York University prior to entering SUNY Downstate’s MD/PhD program. She is currently pursuing her PhD in Biomedical Engineering, within the biomaterials and polymer therapeutics track, through SUNY Downstate and NYU Poly’s joint program. Her research is focused on the development of self-assembling theranostic agents for cancer diagnostics and drug delivery monitored by magnetic resonance imaging.
Yao Wang

Yao holds a Bachelor’s in Polymer Materials from BIFT in China, a Master’s in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Florida. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry. She is conducting research on environmentally responsive hydrogels derived from protein tri-block copolymers for biomedical applications.
Priya Katyal
Priya KatyalPost-Doctoral Associate
Priya holds a doctoral degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from University of Connecticut, where she investigated protein-protein and protein-polymer interactions using biophysical and biochemical approaches. She is a postdoctoral researcher in Montclare lab. Her current research is focused on development of protein engineered injectable hydrogels for drug delivery.

Teeba Jihad

Teeba Jihad is a junior undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors in Biomolecular Science, Pre-Medical Track. She is currently working with Lindsay Hill on the synthesis of pure proteins to direct the templation of magnetic nanoparticles for drug delivery purposes. She hopes to obtain a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering and continue on to Medical School afterwards.
Nicole Schnabel

Nicole Schnabel is currently in her sophomore year as an undergraduate student pursuing a B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the NYU Polytechnic School of Engineering. She is working with Liming Yin with a focus on therapeutic solutions for osteoarthritis using COMPcc. She hopes to enter into the BS/MS program at NYU and later pursue a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering.

Roni obtained a B.S. in Biology from the University of Rochester. She is currently pursuing an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering with a concentration on Biomaterials. Her research efforts are focused on improving the thermostability of phosphotriesterase.

Jeffrey received a B.S. in chemistry at National Tsing-Hua University in Taiwan in 2014. Following graduation, He remained at the National Tsing-Hua University working as a research assistant. He is currently pursuing MS in chemistry at NYU Tandon School of Engineering and is currently working with Lindsay Hill on the development of self assembling proteins and clicking magnetic material on it for drug delivery.
